COMMUNITY NOTIFICATION UPDATE

Location: 539 Smith Street, Providence, RI
Incident: SUSPECT APPREHENDED
On Saturday, March 26, at 4:32 p.m., and Sunday, March 27, 2022, at 12:52 p.m., separate reports were made by student residents of 31 Eaton St. and 39 Eaton St. to the Providence Police Department notifying the police that their residences had been entered into by an unknown intruder(s).
On Tuesday, March 29, residents of 31 Eaton Street, contacted police and the Office of Public Safety and reported that two male individuals were caught on video at about 6 a.m., in their backyard, checking car doors, and tampering with a basement window at about . Additional video was provided to public safety officers that captured the same subjects above at about 1 a.m., in the rear of 51 Eaton Street and that matched the description of the individuals involved in the above incidents.
On Tuesday, March 29, at about 1 p.m., Providence Police Officers arrested a subject involved in the above crimes.
Police are further investigating if this subject is responsible for other unsolved crimes in the area.
Public Safety urges community members to remain alert and vigilant of their surroundings and secure doors and windows of premises and vehicles.
