COMMUNITY NOTIFICATION
Date: March 28, 2022
Date of Incidents: March 26, 27, 2022
Time: 4:32 p.m. / 12:10 a.m.
Location: 31 Eaton Street / 39 Eaton Street, Providence RI
Incident: BURGLARY/Resident on premises
On Saturday, March 26, at 4:32 p.m., and Sunday, March 27, 2022, at 12:52 p.m., separate reports were made by student residents of 31 Eaton St. and 39 Eaton St. to the Providence Police Department notifying the police that their residences had been entered into by an unknown intruder(s).
On Saturday, March 26, residents of 39 Eaton Street reported to police that there were indications that someone had accessed their basement utility room, after having discovered pillows, a blanket, evidence of food products, and feces.
On Sunday, March 27, residents of 31 Eaton Street reported to police that at 12:10 p.m., the front door alarm to their residence activated, but a check of the residence revealed no suspicious activity. Residents were still suspicious after one resident reported that, when utilizing the bathroom earlier that day, slippers were observed that did not belong to any of the residents. It also appeared that the bathroom/shower had been utilized and that the slippers were no longer present.
Another resident reported that an intruder had attempted to open a locked bedroom door, just prior to the front door alarm activating. A check with roommates revealed that it was not the roommates who had attempted to enter the room.
A check of the basement showed signs of entry through an opened window and the discovery of clothing and a pizza box. Residents re-contacted police to report their findings. The items were turned over to police. The residents showed the responding police officer video footage they obtained of a potential suspect seen on video obtained between neighboring houses. The video footage appeared to show an individual wearing the clothing that had been found in the basement at 31 Eaton Street.
Police responded to Golden Crust Pizza to investigate and were able to obtain video of a potential suspect.
These two incidents are being investigated by Providence Police Detectives.
