Emergency Management Staff
The College’s Director of Emergency Management, Koren Kanadanian, oversees the training and drills for students, faculty, and staff; conducts simulated exercises; and carries out assessment and other related activities necessary to ensure that our emergency response plan remains flexible and effective.
A former Sergeant of the Franklin, MA, Police Department for 12 years, and currently a Detective with the Norfolk, MA, Police Department, Koren has been a trainer/instructor for the Massachusetts Municipal Training Academy, FEMA and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency. He is an Emergency Response Coordinator/Emergency Medical Technician for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Incident Response Coordination Team (reserve). Koren holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England College and a Master’s degree in Emergency Management, Terrorism, and Homeland Security from Anna Maria College.
The Director of Emergency Management works together with Major John Leyden, the College’s Executive Director of Public Safety. Major Leyden began his tenure at Providence College in 2003 following 24 years of service as a member of the Rhode Island State Police.
